Well you dont have a governor in the transmission. You have a governor pressure solenoid, and a sensor. It reads from the tps and increases and decreases depending on the throttle.

To the best of my knowledge the transfer case is still good and it seems to be a lot easier to find 2wd transmissions than 4wd. So, will it work and if so, what issues will I encounter. Thanks.
2wd and 4wd have different o/d housings. You can swap them out, but its a good bit of work.

Ideas on adjusting the tps? I dont mess with them everyday. Do a search on the forum or crack open your FSM.

The limp mode problem I am not sure.

Like I said, new solenoids, but it will start in third, only go into 1st and 2nd manually, and not into o/d.
If you could just give me a way to start testing these, or the computer, like you mentioned earlier, that would really help.

The only mechanical issue I have a problem with is this leak from the front. It seems to me that the TC is pulled out too far when I bolt the flex plate onto it. Is it possible to use spacers or something between them?
Have you put a scan tool on the truck to see what the computer is doing and reading?

No you cannot just put spacers. Something is not right, you need to find out what you did wrong.

scan tool indicates "transmission fluid pressure control solenoid" I am assuming this is the governer pressure solenoid. this is a new part.

It also indicates the speed sensor. not sure if that would make it go into limp mode but i'm fixing that problem as we speak.

As far as the TC issue, I think I have figured out the problem. the old TC siezed up the bushing on it, so it pulled out with the old TC and I missed putting in the new one.
However, when the old one siezed up around the TC shaft, it started to wear a groove on the pump unit. Not a big one, so I'm not sure if i can get away with using it, or if I should try and find a replacement. Basically right where that bushing goes is widened a slight bit, so the new bushing is loose and not a tight fit....

Thanks for the info. Does this mean I have to replace the solenoid & the sensor or the TPS sensor. Could this be what is keeping my transmission from shifting into 2nd and 3rd.

What would you recommend I do next.

Also when I shift manually it will grab 2nd for a couple of seconds then release again.

Thanks in advance.

Default valve body screws

Hi Monte,

I posted this elsewhere on forum but havent got an answer yet. I am attempting to reassembly the valve body. There are 13 screws which hold the body parts together, 12 of them are 2" long, one is 2.5". I am trying to determine where the longer screw goes.

Thanks

look at the 2 bolts that hold the filter on. The old style used 3 bolts, when they changed to 2 bolts they left the third bolt long.

So you forgot to put a pump bushing in and you want me to believe everything you did is correct? Who's to say you didnt forget something else? You need to get scan tool not a code reader.

It should manual shift fine. If it looses 2nd gear then you have a problem with the band or the adjustment.
