Hey MonteC, I was wondering what could be the problem with my truck not downshifting when climbing a hill? She just stays in OD and bogs down. Only when I give more throttle, quite a bit more throttle, will it shift out of OD. I had my tranny rebuilt about a month ago, but had the problem before the rebuild. Any Ideas? Is it a vaccuum problem? Thanks!

I think you might want to be a little more descriptive. I personally have no idea what your asking.

Edit: I just noticed you location is the Peruvian mountains. I hope I didn't come off as being rude.

My Durango did the same thing for a short time before it gave me error codes for the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. Replaced both, along with fluid and filter, and everything is back to normal so far.

Really? I would've thought the repair shop would have replaced that with the rebuild. But I haven't gotten any error codes at all. I'll look into it. Just iffy since no code has been thrown...

Well my truck is still in the shop, getting the trans rebuilt. They gave back to me doing the same thing of not shifting into overdrive. When I brought it back we went on a 45 min test drive and argued the whole time about it not going into overdrive. The scanner is saying that it is in 4th and the rpm's drop by about 100, and he thinks that just fine. I on other hand think that its just the t/c locking up. While on the test drive got a code for tcc o/d solenoid performance (po1740), so he decided to change that....2 days later calls me and tells me that didn't work. So now they are taking the trans back out and doing it all over again. . Oh If anyone could tell what rpm you are at going 60mph and 70 mph, I would appreciate it.

Just over 1500 RPM at 60 in O/D. 3.55 gears, 265/70/16 tires.

Default Gear ratio change

Hi, I have a 4 speed manual tranmission that I have aquired for my 1988 Power Ram, but I was wondering if it would be posible to open it up and change the gear cluster to match that gearing of the 4 speed Overdrive tranny. I assume the on that I have is the NP-435, so can I change the gears to match the A-833? I am capable of doing the work, just not sure if it can be done. Thanks.

No vaccum controls on the transmission.

Take it back to the shop that built it. It's either a cable adjustment, solenoid problem, or Valvebody related.
