MonteC's Transmission Corner (For Info Only)
i have a 1997 1500 4x4 it has a nv3500 in it now will a nv4500 work in its place if so would i have to change the transfer case or anything or will it bolt right to my 5.2 and would it matter if it was out of a diesel or gas beside the bell housing any info would great great because my nv3500 is ready to take a dump
Hi I have been getting a check engine every so often but every time I shut off the key the check engine light goes away. But today I decided to go out and read the codes and I got code 12,37,32
12=Direct Battery input to PCM disconnected within last 50 ignition key-on cycles. Normal if battery has been disconnected, otherwise check battery power and ground connections
So that is not a problem
37=Torque converter clutch solenoid CKT or Trans temp sensor too high or low
Open or short in CKT wiring or connectors. Voltage out of range at transmission temperature sensor input. See NOTE #1 below
NOTE #1 - From the 1995 TRUCK (Ram) manuals: the trailer towing package includes a transmission coolant temp sensor while the standard package doesn't. The fault code detection system is probably the same for both models. This could cause the low (no) voltage indication....no sensor to send any voltage.
So what does this mean. This is the main reason I posted in this section.
32=EGR Solenoid circuit
Short or open in the EGR solenoid circuit. Check for loose, broken, or shorted wire in the EGR valve wiring and connectors. Possible air fuel ratio imbalance not detected during diagnosis.

Alright, so for my 01 5.9, I have had 3 transmission. Well, the original. that when I bought the truck had 14700 miles on it and took a dump on shortly after I bought it(private party too so I couldnt get my money back... oh well its a great truck now!). I got that tranny rebuilt. Now, I have a brand new tranny(Im picking up my truck tomorrow since water got it in cuz I got stuck in a massive hole someone made in a stream I was crossing). I have to break the transmission in right? No romping around or anything? Can I even go 4-wheeling with it? not mudding but actually in mountain 4-wheeling.
Thanks for the help!

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L Extended Cab
Truck goes to park, reverse, neutral, drive no problem what so ever. However she wont shift outta first gear. Tried drivin around and getting it to shift by letting off it at different RPMs. Still stays in first.
Yes, I did do some research on the site. Nothing fit my problem 100% but some of the conclusions people came to for similar problems was to change the "govenor pressure sensor & solenoid" Anyone think that this is my problem or any ideas as to what it could be?
Just got a refurb PCM cause I had "No Bus" before...truck starts now and everything with the PCM just doesnt shift from first...maybe bad programming...are the shift points controlled by the PCM?
Feel free to throw any idea out there, thanks

Good to know, thanks. I ordered a pump housing monday, so hopefully that will be in soon. And thankfully that was the only thing ruined by the bushing. Thanks for the advice and time
