Default 14x3 air cleaner ?

Just wondering, if on a 2001 5.2L ram, if there are any mods needed to fit a 14x3 air cleaner in there, cause it sure looks like it'd be a tight squeeze.
I know they can be found for only 30+ dollars, but didn't wanna waste the cash, so was just wondering if anyone had problems fitting one in.

For some reason, wouldn't let me ask this question in the FAQ air filter area, so decided to make a thread. Sorry it is 2am, didn't feel much like doing a thorough search thru the whole forum.

Also, I'm looking for a stock non-EGR kegger and stock throttle body, if anyone has one they would be willing to sell, lemme know Thx

I have a stock kegger and throttle body. The kegger has been bead-blasted, just needs rinsed. Just shoot me an offer. I decided to go the Air-Gap route.......eventually.

I got the 14X3... Didn't fit. I know I could've shoved it in there and made it work, but I wanted to keep the paint in the engine bay. So, I got a slightly smaller filter from K&N.

Here's how it looks:

"FIPK no more" thread. A good many pages of 14x3 information. If it's not there, you don't need to know LOL

Wow...alot of you people, just aren't very nice. Sure...lecture me for asking a question instead of searching...to make me feel dumb or something. It was 2 in the morning, and I didn't feel like searching, so kiss my butt, and you know who you are. Oh, and by the way, I did look thru some of the threads and read about people putting them on. My question was pertaining to something I did not find during my reading. Sue me.

Notice the person that entered the even simpler answer, of make an S bolt. He used less energy responding than the rest of you a$$es.

Anyways, back on topic...I talked to my father-in-law tonight about the 14x3 compared to the CAI I currently have on. He's been workin on cars and trucks his entire life, and says the CAI will flow more/cooler air than the 14x3 will. So now I'm kinda torn...I've read a bunch of stuff in here about the 14x3's being better, but I'm just not sure.

Do I take the Mr. Gasket 14x3 back, and get my 40$ back, or can anyone prove that a 14x3 is actually better?

There not being asses bekins01ram, its just their way of trying to help. For what its worth, I have tried them all, k&n CAI, 14x3, and from my experience with them, I found the stock setup with a drop in k&n filter to be the best. Unless you have roller rockers, and a different manifold, etc, etc... then I would just stick with the stock setup. It provides a little more low end, but the 14x3 provided more power from 3k rpm on up.

With all that said, keep the 14x3. Put it on, and see how you like it, it only takes about 5 minutes to switch between the two once you get good at it, find which one you like best. All of us have different opinions and ideas about it. Both setups are good in their own way.
