This is a question for all those running the superchips 3815. I have been doing alot of research on this and im torn between dynotunning or buying the 3815, I like that i can update the superchips but i have heard that it will make ur engine spark-knock like crazy, so thats my question. Are ur trucks spark-knocking with the superchips, and how bad if so. Thanks

 

Have you check your plenum gasket?

 

superchips only pings if the plenum is leaking. as will any timing advance.

 

+2. After I fixed my plenum gasket, my 3815 no longer caused spark knock.

 

It will also knock if there is residual 87 octane left in the tank. When I did the Perf. 91 tune on my truck, it snap crackle popped under load. I put in some 91, w/ some octane booster to hep out what was left in the hoses, and drove it for about 20 miles.

It popped less and less until it went completely away. No problems since!

if you put in a 180 t-stat and colder plugs that will help also

 

that didn't help my leaking plenum, although high octane gas did.

 

Colder plugs helped a little with mine, but it didn't go away completely.

If your gasket isn't fixed yet (if you haven't fixed it yet, or if a previous owner didn't fix it, it is blown BTW), thats step number 1 to solving spark knock.
