Tonight i started to make my new front bumper. Its 3.5 OD pipe. Ther is gonna be 2 of these on the front with enough room in between them to mount my winch. Figured i post a few pics and update it incase anyone wanted to follow along.

After i get the tubes mounted i am gonna angle cut them at the outside of the grill and weld them on so they go back with the body lines.

 

Have you thought about making them pull double duty? Jumper the tubes with a steel braided line, install a quick coupler and a valve stem. You now have your very own indestructable air tank.

 

That sounds like a very bad idea to me, imagine getting in an accident and knocking one of the ends off. It wouldn't be pretty.

 

are those new body mounts? mine are only like 1" tall yours are like 4"

never mind now i noticed that is a body lift

 

i have thought about making them air tubes. and i stell might, if i do they wont be presurrized on the street only on the trail.

my other idea is to fill em with sand and cap the ends.

 

You shouldn't use the factory bumper brackets. Those are all sorts of bendy bends.

 

This is just tacked into place. after i get the two tubes were i want them i am pulling the whole bumper and brackets off the frame and i have 1/4 plate i am cutting out the same and then gonna weld it to that stock bracing and then bolt it back on.

 

I would like to see you rip a welded end cap off. I have done this before and it works great. Not to mention its only going to pressurized to about 200 psi anyway enough to fill some tires.

 

You dont think the front is heavy enough already that you need sand?

 

Ditch the stock bumper brackets and DON'T FILL THEM WITH SAND. Once you are done making that bumper there will be no reason to fill them with sand. The weight will crush your front suspension.
