V10 is an 8.0L IIRC. I don't know the setup in the thermostat housing on those but on ours it's just a tiny thing. Alot of it could have to do with supply/demand. Not nearly as many 10's running around compared to our 8's.

 

8.0 liter is indeed the V-10.

 

When I repair the plenum leak would it hurt to use some seafoam in the intake prior to the repair. Would this make the cleaning procedure easier or is this a bad idea.

 

You can... but, the inside cleans up fairly easy anyway. (brake cleaner works ok, simple green works pretty good, and reportedly, so does oven cleaner....)

9. Get the coolant at wallmart, it is about 6 dollars cheaper than autozone (autozone wants 15 bucks for extended life antifreeze). You will need at least 1 jug for this.

10. Oil change: wherever you buy oil. You will need to because you will get coolant in the oil doing the plenum.

11. Large tube of Permatex ultra black (you should use a lot of this for the frong and rear of the intake): about $10

12. Small tube of Blue Loc-Tite: about $5

13. Coolant temperature sensor: 35.95 (Autozone sells a duralast for 12.95)

I hope you have a full set of tools, Primarily 9/16, 1/2 ratchet and crescent wrenches as well as a set of alan key wrenches.

** when you take the intake bolts out, take 4 of them and cut the beads off them. then put them in the intake holes when you are putting the intake back on. it will ensure that your intake is perfectly lined up and you do not shift any of the gaskets**
Don't worry about the Throttle body gasket

 

Open up the service manual, you are gonna need it. Just line up the two dots on the timing chain.

In your list, I didnt know Duralast made spark plugs. Probably worth as much as the other Dura-not-last crap. Get Champions or NGKs.

Yeah i go to rockauto for sensors and oem parts. But they are a bit lacking on the stock parts. I got everything from summit (except the coolant temp sensor, MSD coil, and plenum kit) because the shipping from going to rockauto AND summit would have pretty much balanced out.

I got all my sensors from rockauto when i had the fire in my 1996.

 

Rock Auto kicks ***, I dont know how many times I'm gonna emphasize that! If you pay attention on the site, get all of your parts so they ship from one warehouse, it saves you on shipping and everything arrives in one box.

Also make sure you get a new Goodyear belt and Dayco tensioner and idler pulley. I didnt and wish I did, only to replace them both a month later.

 

I heard the goodyear gator belt was not very good?

Funny thing, I was thinking of getting a new belt and idler pulley yesterday!!! I had an idler pulley go out on me when i was moving from NY to Oklahoma. Somewhere in Virginia. Now, when i move, i keep a spare belt AND idler pulley around.
