Thanks guys. I just not my valve spring tool this past week. I'm thinking that I'm going to get started on replacing springs today or tomorrow. Pictures to come.

Im thinking of dooing the 5.7 swap into one of our 01 ram 4X4s. just wondering if you had pics and maybe a list of do's and donts for the swap. i have allllllll winter to dot it

Punch in Hemi Swap in the "Search" section of this forum, Then find the people who HAVE done a Hemi Swap. NOT the one's wanting to do it and read what they have done.
Hemi Swap with pics...DDIRI ..I forget all of there names,but there are a few that's done it and - it's a good start..It can be done, But look into it hard before you make up you're mind..There are good people on this forum that will help you, and some might have parts you need. Do a lot of research. It's as important with what you're doing as tools are..
KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY AND THERE IS PLENTY OF IT ON THIS FORUM, just keep in mind, it's NOT a DROP it in and go swap. you're truck will have to be modified and nothing in the wiring system is plug and play..Listen to DDIRI He knows what he's talking about..

 

Make sure you get the keys with the donor if it is a Skim vehicle, or buy a non skim truck. HemiDak-Quad wired his hemi into the existing dash/PDC of his truck. I swapped the Dash and PDC over doing mine. I have pictures at the beginning of this thread. Read through a couple threads and look at some of the websites that specialize in swap kits. Then you should be able to make an informed decision on whether you want one bad enough. If you can try to find a wrecked truck complete that you can pull the parts off that is easiest.


Swapping My springs tomorrow. I'm hoping one of my bikes sells this weekend so I can buy a key to crank her over without locking me out of the computer. I then will finish my brakes and get my front Drive shaft hooked up. and I'm done.

now I need to send my ECM off to be programmed, make two new brake lines, buy a purge solenoid, and get a new transmission cooler because I broke mine.

I just watched you're Video..Don't want to tell you what to do, and I'm happy to see it running "but"--I wouldn't spray any more ether in that motor, Just letting you know , That stuff will warp you're valves and do a lot of damage ....
If you still haven't fixed the problem , I would check the ASD "Automatic Shut Down. Some times when the air bags go off on a truck , the asd will shut the engine down and you have to change the ASD Relay..Just a thought , might be worth a try...

Wow Guys I am sorry I have been such a slacker in the hemi swap department. I just barely shipped off my computer on monday to have the Skim removed from the truck so I can start it.

-Hemi dak where is the relay for the ASD? I have never even heard of such a thing.
I had to cut my motor mount perches off. It kind of sucked. I am sure you are a better Fabricator than I though so you might be able to make something work.
I just bought my motor mounts off a company online they are pretty basic here is a link to what I used. http://performanceparts.com/part/Trans-Dapt/4507 I'm not sure which purple plug you are talking about. Send me a picture and I will see if my truck has it. The 02 is a different year being it was the first year for the new body style and the last year of the 5.9 ( don't quote me on that but they may have carried it in to 03) and the didn't offer the hemi till 03, which is the lost year Hemi being that it has a different computer etc.

Yeah I know Ether is bad for engines I was just trying to see if it would turn over due to the fact that I bought it from a junkyard.

Sorry again guys for being so bad at updating. Work and baby leave me little time to work on my truck. I'm hoping it will be road worthy by the end of January. I need to flare two brake lines. Wire up my tail lights (which I need the engine running to figure out what wire does what) and finish my exaust. then I get to start getting my 4x4 going again.

 

It's good to hear from you again,I hope the family is doing well...I have been trying everything to get pics of my build on here, I can't do it...I forgot my photobucket password and I cant do anything with it..I'm beyond most of that other stuff now, running into new problems... I cut my mount purches off and refabbed new ones and used the 4.7 motor mounts that were on my motor...I also bought the harnesses for a 04' Ram and ran them instead of trying to cut and splice all the wires.The downside of that is, Now the interior light don't work ,or the brake light on the right or the light over the bed. I'm missing 3 wires on the white plug that comes into the cab from the PDC under the steering wheel. I also have 4 plugs on the drivers side under the PDC that don't go any where.I'm thinking they're to the ABS, It must be different..And the Speed control sensor on the brake unit, my truck don't have..I might have to buy a different brake control box and add the sensor to my wheel hub..I don't know..The Evap Purge is a different unit . And there are 2 transmission plugs hanging I cant find plugs for..I think it must be the 4x4 I don't have..
I read this thread starting from the beginning this time, You did a good job , I can't wait to see it on the road...Today I'll be doing the finishing touches on my wires , APPS Box and starting the exhaust system...
