The time has come (gears)
Go for that setup, it's the second best setup you could have after selectable lockers!
I had an old Jeep J10 with a locker in the rear and LSD in the front and I lived in upstate NY and it was fine in snow. Got a few friends with SFA trucks with a similar setup in south Georgia who slop around the farms in the mud and have no issues either. Very popular setup with the swamp hog hunting crowd also...

You are gonna love your gears ! I haven't decided on what locker to use in the rear but the gears made her a whole different truck! Does anyone have any feed back for a rear locker on a truck that is 50/50 street/mud ?
I wasn't really questioning whether you should or shouldn't have that setup, it is just not a setup i've ever really heard of so i'll be interested to see how it works out. I'm far from an expert on anything more then what I run on my own truck, so I really have no opinion. I know what you mean about the cost of the air lockers. I wish there was an air locker or e-locker for the 9.25. Just another reason to do the D60 upgrade.

I think so, but, don't quote me on that..... There is an article on it here. They talk about running it by hand, but, really aren't very clear on it.....
But, even if it does remain locked, in 2wd, the worst thats gonna happen is your gas mileage will suffer a bit, (provided the CAD unlocks) due to the additional parts spinning. You may not even notice it. (but, if you have questionable u-joints in your front shaft, you WILL notice that.

)OP: Good choice on a locker for the rear, you'll love it!
