Blend door fix
Hey Z, any chance you can post the section that shows how to adjust the cable? I know you posted how to check it.
I am hearing the blend door opening and closing while im switching between the main dash vents and the defrost selections. I just don't know what elae to try. Other than snatching the entire dash out and replacing the heater core and radiator. Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.
Pull you temp **** off, mine was doing the same thing and the **** was cracked where it fits on the shaft and not letting it turn all the way over to hot. Actually it flexes and you lose some of the travel.
I was reading through the repair manual that I bought when I bought the truck and it says there is a vaccum line connected to the back of the climate control **** assembly. Gonna remove that today and see if there is a problem there before I ****** the dash out. Once again thanks for all your help.
Well I took the Climate Control Assembly off and there are 5 vacuum lines on the back, 1 cable and an electrical connector. The vacuum lines were connected to the vent selection ****, the cable was connected to the temperature control ****.
Just wondering how many folks out there have done the HeaterTreater blend door repair on a 1999 Dodge Ram. Seems like mine is broken based on symptoms (A/C runs for a few minutes, reverts to air and stays until I turn off the system and let it rest a moment). $700+ to repair even at my reliable repair shop plus the chance for dash damage which would lead to a replacement dash for $400. I think not for 1999....
Hoping to compare notes - not a mechanic by trade but this repair looks very doable and would like to hear from folks that have done this repair.
Thanks

I don't know what year Dodge went from the cable operated blend door, to the motorized one. If you do indeed have the little motor, the fix is easy, two screws, and an electrical connector. One of the screws is reportedly difficult to get to though.
I think there was a How To, (video even) on their site..... Doesn't really look that bad.
