That's the bore diameter. (internal dimension) They are all pretty much the same length, and mounting style. there is plenty of room inside the drum for them, and the larger bore, means a larger piston, means more area for the fluid pressure to work against, means more effective back brakes.

That was a mouthful.

i think rockauto has the size specs.

check your fits carefully. squirrels screwed up his brake drum doing that on an 01. he realized too late that it didn't fit right. i THINK 94-99 is ok, but 00-01 might not be.
Wait, so you can't increase the wheel cylinder size at all on an 01? I'm in need of redoing my brakes and want to do this also...

according to my 10 seconds of research, the 01 stock diameter is 1 inch on 1500/2500/3500. you can get a larger bore from the 3500 chevy single wheel, and even larger from the 3500 chevy dual wheel.

i didn't say it wouldn't work. i said to measure carefully, check your fits, and make sure it fits right. something bad happened to squirrels 01 when he tried this. i don't know what or why, but i'll ask him.

one little thing to know, is that on the 00 and 01, the angle of the brake line fitting changed from 90* straight in, to a 45* forward angle. that creates a separate left and right part number. so you might need to rebend your line a smidgen.

story of success.
