Its really a pain in the *** I have been saving for months and months to get this work done and now this.

I can hear the sound event when the diffs are cold.

Front axle u joints wouldn't make it whine would it? They said there about shot so I'm going to do front and rear drive shafts.

It sounds like a bottle rocket is under my truck!!

Check the fluid in the transfer case......

Will it make the noise with the rear of the truck jacked up?

Axle u-joints click and clack and maybe squeak.
My drive shaft u-joints just squeaked when they were seized up. I'm not sure if they would whine.
Now how is the transmission doing? You mentioned that the whine goes away if you put it in neutral and rev it.

So the guy said I can't make it stop. It just keeps going.

Here are my new thoughts since they couldn't tell where it was coming from. THEY need to put it up in there lift and run it and find out where the sound is coming from. THEY should be dicking with it not me. It started after I brought it THERE to THERE shop.

I'm calling on tuesday and having them look at it and fix it.

Agreed. I'd call Monday, over a lunch break even if I had to, and get the appointment at least scheduled for later that week.

We are doing car trading agin and I need mine for work tomorrow this month has been crazy (Mine had gear work sister got a new one mom had inspection.) for cars and on tuesday I have a tree job lined up so I have to haul the wood off while the other guy pulls the chipper. (it will be bed weight small cherry tree)

If I have to slap a new R&P in there its really gonna hurt me I have to go back to pulling the trailers soon. I already had so skip one week on the customers because of the gear work. It all adds up to a loss on my end while they sent me home with a whining re-end.

I'm still a little salty about this which is another reason why I haven't called. I don't want to blow a fuse on these guys. But I made it 5 miles from home and could hear it and they guy who did the work said he could hear a slight whine which really ticked me off and I tryed not to show it.

Since they seem to think its the front drive shaft u joints im going to call summit and buy front and rear u joints (for the drive shaft) and get them to fix it and some new front break pads. Ones I had on there were total junk.

They didn't check the axle u-joints while they had them out? They had to pull the stub axles to get the diff carrier out to change the front gears...... One would think they would check them WHILE IT WAS EASY, and let you know if they were questionable..... Unless, they did indeed see they were bad, and saw an opportunity to hit you some more labor hours, to re-do some of the stuff they already did......

There good I know that for a fact. I spit them out at 40k they greased them for me while they had the shafts out.

Only issues they saw (and think it is) is the front drive shaft u joints. Guy said the one that plugs into the back side of the diff said it was just about done.

Lol I just got done editing that post I made above.

Only problem with that theory is..... the front driveshaft ISN'T TURNING under normal circumstances.....

Yeah, I replace the front U-joint in the front shaft too recently.... mine was toast, but quiet....
