lockin out hub conversion?
does anyone have any info on putting lock in lock out hubs on a 1500 i see kits for 2500's and 3500's but can't find one for a 1500 or is there any axles/steering knuckle combos that will work on my truck any info will be great thanks.
because i seen one today in a walmart parking lot and i think it had to be a wyotech kid cause it was from out of state but i waited and waited and no one ever came out for me to ask.
I am having a hard time coming up with anything for the 1500's... but, the D60 kits run close to 2 thousand dollars...... Seems some folks have had success with just scavenging the whole front axle out of a Ford truck...... all the mounts were pretty much the same. Granted, that was out of a 3/4 ton truck, so, D60 as well. I don' know what ford used in their half-tons, and if all the mounts were the same.
Quite frankly, that is a crapload of money, for what you are getting. I would be real tempted to wander the junkyards, and find a D44 that has all the stuff you are looking for, and see if it would all change over. I wouldn't think there would be THAT much difference. Could always separate them at the balljoints, take take everything outboard from there. (including the outer axle stub)

Of course, the first several times I tried to hit their site, I got a 404 error, or "service unavailable"......Neat trick. And not nearly so pricey, but, still pretty steep. Not a whole lot more than having to replace the hub/bearing assemblies though...

Unfortunately, using older ford/chevy 44 parts does not work due to the knuckles being completely different (ball joint locations are not the same). I have seen guys fab up a lockout kit on a 60 from old axle parts, but on a 44 I am pretty sure it is not possible.
Not sure which way would be less expensive......
