k well the speedo didnt do anything when i spin the gears so looks like a bad vss so i ordered one for not 53 but 18 at my local prtstore.... but the harness that hooks to the sensor...the white orange wires like you said may be damaged and tht might explain the reason for cut off but where can i get that input clip??
ok i have a 94 1500 4x4 and i replaced the vss because my speedometer went out along with the four wheel drive. i cant figure out how to check the gears to see if they are bad any suggestions?
Which gears? On the VSS? There are index marks on the housing the gear goes into, to get the right spacing on the gear...... Too little, and it won't go in, too much, and it still doesn't work.
If the gear is 'apple cored', it's bad. (teeth ground out in the center of the gear.)
The VSS is located on the output shaft of the transfer case, and the hole thing can be serviced without dropping the t-case. You can get the 95 service manual (which is going to be VERY similar to yours...) here. Procedure you are looking for is on page 21-280. They even have some nice drawings to help you along.
This is something you could do in the driveway in 30 minutes or less. Check both gears, both the one that comes out with the VSS, and the one on the output shaft. If either are worn more than you think they should be, replace 'em.
well my gears are out but i cant fnd any trieda few part stores, mopar and ebayand mopar was the only one with anything but the page is down any suggestions on where else to get them?
