Default 1998 biggest tire

Hi, I'm just wondering, what is the biggest tire size I can fit on my truck? The truck is a 1998 ram 1500 slt/laramie 4x4 stock height.

Then the question becomes.... how driveable is it with big tires, and 3.55 gears.......

305/70/16's will fit on a 2nd gen ram no problem with the stock wheels. its listed as an optional size on discount tire direct, and ive seen them fit myself.

oh and 285/75/16 and 305/70/16's are the same size. 305's are just a bit wider.

i would either stop at 285/75 like you said, or 305/70. they are the same exact size height wise. like i stated before the 305's are just a tee bit wider.
