8" lift kit question
Sounds like he pieced it together from a 6" lift kit, a leveling kit, and some random crap he found in a JY.
yeah, makes you wonder why he took it off... However there must be some parts there that will get him well on the way to having a respectable lift. maybe settle for 6" and buy some rear leaf springs/add a leafs/shackle flip?
By putting another leaf into the pack, you're adding tension. Add a leaf is one of the worst possible ways you can lift a truck. The extra leaf is really designed to increase cargo capacity, not lift.
Adding coil spring spacers is FINE to gain a little extra lift, that is if the rest of the components are up to the task and are designed to work with that much lift. People use spacers on top of springs all the time (myself included) and I've never ONCE seen a spring fail because of them. How about ACOS? They're basically an adjustable spacer and they are designed to be used with lifts.
Is the drop pitman arm actually an 8" drop or is it just designed to work with 8" of lift?
To properly lift the truck 8", you'll want the coil springs (preferably 8" coils but as I said before spacers will be fine), 8" extended length shocks, ADJUSTABLE upper and lower control arms (not fixed arms designed for 6"), adjustable track bar (not a drop bracket with a stock track bar), extended sway bar end links, and a drop pitman arm. It's always a good idea to go with a dual steering stabilizer setup with the size of tires you'll no doubt be running.
For the rear, I don't like the sound of 4" lift blocks with a 4" add a leaf. I know little about leaf spring suspensions though so I won't pretend I do.
