I have also been looking for intakes and the spectra keeps popping up seems like the best for its price so I'm really considering purchasing it. I've also been searching for a good chip for my 99 1500 4x4 5.2L, any suggestions?

Specter (spectre?) is about the best bang for the buck on induction systems. It isn't really a "cold" air induction, as it grabs air from the same place the stock system does.... probably flows better than stock though.

For a tuner (yep, you can use one of those on your truck) go with an SCT Tuner from hemifever. 265 bucks, you get three canned tunes, and the tuner. Probably one of THE best bang for the buck mods on these trucks.

Something that actually gets COLD air..... either via a hood scoop, like ram air, or something similar. Biggest thing is, it needs to be isolated from the oven-like temps found under the hood.

It's hard to beat the power gains for the price with the SCT. and in the 5.2/5.9 engine range, there's no other tuner that can out perform the tunes I've designed lol

make sure the plenum is good though

Read the stickied threat at the top of the 2nd Gen Section.

Take OFF the throttle body, look down into the kegger, look for pooling oil on the sides, a small dental mirror works well.

Oil = Bad.

You can also open the throttlebody plate and stick ur finger down in there and rub the inner walls. If they are greasy/oily then the plenum is leaking
