I would feel alot better if both companys were using 7075-T6 instead of 6061-T6.
Has anyone had one fail due to warping?

the mopar gasket is fine with the aluminum plate. no need to spend more money on a felpro.

i've heard stories before about long delays in getting parts from aps, both plates and transmissions. good call on opening the paypal dispute to force a response. long delays, no answer on phone calls, incorrect shipping status are all really sloppy ways to run a company. you're not the first to get this kind of BS.

Gaius - i wouldn't bother making a plate out of thicker steel. it's still steel and you'll have the same problem.

i guess thats the only real big difference in hughes and aps. the instructions from my hughes kit was only a 1 page front and back list, while you said your aps kit came with a 5 page detailed instruction booklet.

I'm sure the 6061 is plenty strong for that application.

I also had a problem with APS.I ordered baffles for my mopar valve covers and it took over a month and a couple phone calls.I also got the "I'll send out another set" answer.Still only recieved one set, lol.
But anyways,Hedrock, you wouldnt mind taking large pics of the 5 pages of instructions you got from APS and posting them up here.Any extra info on this topic is always appreciated on here.

just so you guys know im getting my kit from hughes, but its cheaper to get just the plate for $75 and then buy the fel pro plenum and intake gasket kit from kragen oreily for $19 so your basically paying $95 for the kit with fel pro rather than paying $119 for the kit from hughes, heres the links.

Aluminium is subject to internal stresses and strains when it is overheated. The tendency of the metal under these stresses tends to result in delayed distortions like warping or cracking of overheated aluminium engine parts is commonly observed, sometimes years later.
