Either a spanner wrench. (the 'right' tool) Or, put a strap wrench on it. (some folks have just used a ratchet strap....)

In any event, secure the pulley to keep it from turning, put a big wrench on the nut, and smack the end with a hammer to get it to break loose.

I think I used the biggest cresent wrench I had and smacked it with a big hammer. It was a pita! It might take a few good swings with the BFH.

I borrowed the tool from Advance Auto Parts (loaner). I didn't have to change the pump after all so I never used it.

If you can afford to get one, you may want to read up on electric fans. Could save time and energy in the future.

If you wanna dig a little deeper, you can change the timing chain.

This. Or, at the very least, the timing cover gasket. Since you disturbed a few of the bolts that hold it in place, there is a chance it is going to start leaking anyway.... and you will get to do all this again...... A good double roller timing set isn't too expensive..... Do it up. You are RIGHT there.

I'll add to Hey you's post by saying if you don't do the timing chain and decide to change the timing cover gasket, also replace the front seal. Mine is leaking pretty bad.
