Fair question. I don't know the answer for you, maybe someone else out there is running 285's or 33's on 4.56 gears. I bet you could roast those 285's like chestnuts though.

A 35in tire is 2 inches taller than a 285/75/16, at cruising/highway speed you will turn a higher rpm with the smaller tire......too high and you can lose mpg's....if you drive alot of highway with 4.56's and 285's you can get worse mileage, if you drive only through town and offroad you will do better since you work the motor less at lower speeds

If you are going to go to 35's. Do the 4.56 gears.

If you stick with works out to be 'stock' RPM/Speed, you are going to find that the larger tires sap some of your trucks get up and go. (you will think it got up and went.....) You fuel economy will suffer too. Sure, with 4.56 gears, and 35 inch tires, you are NOT going to get what you are getting now, (maybe...) with the lower gears, it will be worse.

I would suggest taking a wonder thru the "mileage" thread in the General Discussion forum. (there is one talking about mileage on the truck, and another talking about fuel economy, you want the one about fuel economy. )

Lots of folks with different combinations there, and you can get some "real world" data. If economy is what you are really looking for.... the 'best' would be the 245's, and 3.55 gears....... But, that isn't what you really want, is it?

Look at it this way, if you like the look of the 35's then go with 4.56 gears, and if you like the look of 33's then you only need to go to 4.10's, I have 33's on my truck now and im looking at installing 4.10's because the 3.55's are just not enough, but im worried because I might go to 35's within the next year
