Exhaust and MPG
Hey guys im going to get a new exhaust and just had a quick question, I really like the sound of the cherry bomb extremes, and I was thinking of a si/do muffler. At the same time I want to try to help the MPG alittle bit, im already running a superchips and the plenum is fine. Do you think this muffler will help or hurt the mpg and if it will hurt what exhaust do you suggest, I read the flowmasters are more restrictive so thats why im looking at the cherry bomb. Also what size piping do you suggest? Thanks guys
i have cherry bomb extreme, and a highflow cat make a BIG diffrence in sound also !
i have a 2000 ram also so you need a universal magnaflow car 94000 si/so can buy it for 80 buck and have a shop install it for you . help in the low end too . good luck ! i have vids in my youtube of it

Thanks guys for the replies but what do y'all think about my main two questions.
Will the extreme help or hurt the gas mileage?
What size piping should I have going in and out with a si/do muffler

Ok, little tongue in cheek here.....
At first, the loud exhaust is going to hurt your mileage. Reason being: It sounds good, and you will want to hear it, so, you will find yourself stepping on the loud pedal harder for a while. Once the novelty wears off? Probably won't make much difference, you will get a bit more power from the engine though.
2.5 to 3 inch up to the muffler. Then, 2.25, or 2.5 for the outlets. Smaller diameter pipe will give a little bit better bottom end.
Of course, if you are still running stock manifolds, that will lessen any gains you will see.
