Have you spent any major money yet? Or just lots of your time, Because by the time the shop disassembles both heads, magna fluxed test, and rebuilds the heads you might as well go find a used motor. Putting new or rebuilt heads on that motor is just going to cause all kinds of new problems with the bottom end/rings/pistons/bearings.

Weeeeell, both heads are cracked. Burton magna fluxed the other head and it has a slit
on top where pressure escapes from.
Now what?
JY engine? scrap the truck?
Rebuilt heads in ebay are at $290 for the pair.
Engines at the JY are around $150 - $200.

I'd consider that truck a candidate for a long block. The engine has been neglected for far too long, judging by the crap inside, to warrant any extensive/expensive repairs. There's no sense polishing a turd.

While you're at it, replace the catalytic converter so the second set of heads doesn't get the heat that is quite often the root cause of those cracks.

maaaan, I'd hate to see it go.
Hypothetically: What would happen if I bought new heads for it and just put everything back?
