Depends on why you are doing it. I seem to remember something about the pattern being 'off', or some such? Don't recall why a fresh hone job wouldn't clean it up, as the engine hasn't been ran at all, cylinders should still be in good shape.....

 

corrosion was not completely removed by the flex hone, if you run your finger over it you can still feel it

 

How close are you to your tolerances? Can you clean 'em up a little better?

 

we tried the best we could to get em nice and clean but those patches wouldn't polish out. i know there not within spec because i can feel the raised patches.

 

I would run a bore gauge up 'em, and see what the gauge says. The different texture can fool a finger.

You guys use a ball hone? or flat stones to try and clean 'em up?

That said.... I am not right there to have a look.... so, best I can do is guess. I think I would still try and clean them up with a hone first though.....

Running a flat stone on it may not be a bad plan.....

Talking to the machine shop guy sounds like a good idea.

 

yea i feel stupid because i keep calling him and trying to get an over the phone diagnosis and estimate. ive also told him im going to bring it by several times...oops

i know the best thing to do is to get him to ACTUALLY look at it. i know it will run good as is, BUT i like i said, i want it to be PERFECT

 

Toss it into whatever you have for transportation, and cruise it down to him to have a look. He might even be willing to whip out with the bore gauge, and have a look.

needless to say the lever action spring compressor i bought at advance was sh*t for those springs. any reccomendations if i need to remove them for some reason?
