Its a possibility, but, I would check on cost, vs. just getting a different block.......

there is quite a bit of machine work invested in this block... were talking at the VERY VERY least $1k. I have receipts from the shop totaling to almost $4k ofcourse that includes a few things like $500 for porting and other work that doesnt need to be redone.

with that said, whats your oppinion on sleeves?

Every aluminum block out there is sleeved. Done right, it is perfectly fine. Done wrong..... well, that can get interesting to say the least. Talk to your builder, should it become necessary, ask how many he has done, or, if they send it out to be done..... and if he has done a few, ask him if there have been any problems. See what he has to say.

Part of the piston travels out of the bore on a stock engine too. The sleeve will end up being the same length the cylinder was initially, so, it really shouldn't be a problem.

They are pressed in..... so, they may or may not need to have that step. Depending on the amount of interference fit......... I wouldn't think so, but, I am not a machinist....... I have built motors that were sleeved, but, for the life of me, I can't remember how far the sleeves went down...... Yes, it HAS been that long.

Find out the results of the the sonic test, and take it from there. I think you are worrying far too much. Should it come right down to it though, you will have some good questions to ask your builder. (and see how badly your wallet is going to get beat up.)

Hope for the best, see what happens.

LOLOLOL

Well, that answers a couple questions. Now, remains to be seen if your block is actually going to need it.

funny thing is... he made no mention or even hinted that if we went .040 we might have to do sleeves.
