well, heres my AHA! moment of the day...

paperwork on the engine states that quench was .060 with dome .010 above deck, THEREFORE the thickness of the original gasket was .050, or would it be .060? a .050 gasket puts me at 10.07:1

or am i totally off?

so, i guess the questions is- will 10:1 be too high? if so should i go with a .055 to reduce to 9.8

10:1 is streetable, but, you will need to run high octane fuel. With a good tune, 91 would probably work, but, I would really recommend 94...... if available in your area.

If you are really bored, try reading this article.

yes, 94 is widely available.

am i correct in subtracting deck height (-.010) from quench (.060) to attain original head gasket thickness?

If the piston sticks out .010, then yes, that would be correct.

JP5 is kerosene based- and has a high flash point so as to be safer in large quantities.. the military- always following 'keep it simple stupid' made it to be a less volatile fuel..

ANFO, though- that there is some BAD **** stuff..

Hey Matty- If you run ANFO in that thing, will you promise to take pictures? That rig would be like the Darwin recipient who careened into the mountain with a rocket attached to his car- you'll haul *** man, and your hp/tq will be off the charts.. but only for a few seconds I fear..
