There is a major difference between "should" and a measured "does". One can make very expensive noises.... the other is what you want.

The math is there for a reason. One can only use a static number until you mock up the motor. The math get's you to the mock up stage. The Manufactures give spec's on there product and should be checked at the mock up stage. You can not compare spec's with out the product in hand.

I would recommend you get some literature. Excellent book.

Maybe before machining they do......

Assuming that the previous pistons were weight matched as closely as possible...... (and that is actually a pretty big assumption.....) doing the same for these and balancing probably isn't necessary.... That said, for what it costs, it is cheap insurance.... and then you will KNOW that it is right.

Not sure how much you have invested in this project at the moment, but, I always susbsribe to the philosophy of "Do it once. Do it Right. Don't worry about it again." Hasn't failed me yet.

(short version.... Yeah, have it re-balanced.)

Keep in mind, he works for YOU. You are the one writing the checks, so, even if he doesn't think it 'needs' to be done..... you can still tell him you would like it done for your own peace of mind. If he has the equipment to do it, its more money in his pocket, if he has to send it out to have it done, you can bet he is still going to make something off of the deal.

Better safe than sorry? Consider the investment you are going to have here, wouldn't you rather be assured that it is right, by having it done, than continue to wonder?

Anything you aren't 100% comfortable with. Since 99% of the rest of your parts are new.... that list should be pretty damn short.
