My '96 2500 Overhaul
But boy oh boy was it fun to drive! Imagine a 6500 lb sports car as long as a train. 1/3 throttle would destroy the tires if you weren't careful. Now think about a senior in high school who daily drove 2 1972 dodge pickups, only one of which was ever working at a time, and sometimes neither... Bummer, guess i have to borrow dads Ram
We were getting 6 mpg around town with the 3.55 gears and 35" tires. With the 4.56 gears the mileage nearly doubled
. I just need to assemble the front end of the engine and I can fire this bad boy back up. My arms are killing me from working above my head most of the day. These rod/main bearings take forever to change since there are so many of them.

Gotta get some power steering fluid and a new negative ground wire for the battery. Then I'll fire it up. I'm hoping the engine isn't messed up. The lifters didn't sound happy when rotating the engine by hand lol
Call me crazy, but how's starting the engine without any "super secret Mopar power steering fluid" gonna mess it up? Am I missing something?
Don't wanna run the pump dry. Eats it up in pretty short order.
Ok. Would have made more sense if they put didn't wanna kill the power steering pump instead of the engine.
Well, I replaced the whole power steering system while replacing the broken oil pump (hence why saying that I hope the engine isn't fubar). So, the PS system is completely dry. I got some Pyroil power steering fluid which says it's compatible with the fluid needed.
I got it fired up for a whole 5 seconds before the new cam sensor broke off the mounting tab. It may have been a bit too close to the timing chain
. New sensor comes in on monday. Oil pressure shot right up though, so that's a good sign.
Of course it started snowing here today, so I spent most of the day prepping one of our Dodge Stealth's for the snow with new snow tires, wheel bearing, and a tie rod end. I still need to change the front gearing in the truck so I can run that in 4WD. Ugh....
