8" lift questions
my friend has a 99 dodge ram 1500 4wd and was wanting to put a 8" suspension lift on and i know the biggest they make is a skyjacker 7" and a 10,12, and 14" but thats to big so we would kinda have to piece it together
this is what i think we need let me know if i left anything out and any imput on someone that has done this kinda lift
7" coils with 3" coil spacer, adjustable control arms, 8" drop pitman arm, 4" blocks, 4" heavy duty add a leaf, stanless brake lines, dual steering stabilizer, transfercase index ring .....and all the bolts and stuff i dont really know what all i need for the steering part any help would be great.
thanks pics of steering setups would be awsome

Most lift kits I have seen also do the 'leveling' trick. So, if you are going for ten inches of lift in front..... why not just get the 10" kit? (big money.....)
Don't forget shocks.
What size tires does he want to run, and does he plan to off-road with it?

cause the 10" kit doesnt come with everything and its bigger than he wants but its not oing off road just on the pavement and he is going to run some 38 toyo mt tires on 20" wheel with 4.88 gears
The 10" kit doesn't come with everything???? That seems odd.
If he isn't going to go off-road with it, and just wants the larger tires, the 7" kit will more than likely work for his purposes..... If he goes off-road with it though.... things WILL hit, and he WILL break parts. (large tires on axles that weren't designed for it.) he is going to burn thru wheel bearings and ball joints like a politician thru money though.....

if hes just lookin to run larger tires and look cool, my truck is rollin on 40" swamper boggers with a 7" suspension and 2" body, but i also have all the bells and whistles that are supposed to go with a lift. and a word of advice to your friend......those little 5 lug axles wont hold up long with those big *** tires......just sayin.....from experience
You say the 10" kit is too high, yet hes gonna run 7" springs and 3" spacers... hmmmm.
For that amount of lift, the control arms cant just be adjustable ones mounted in the stock location... they will be too steep to operate properly. He will have to go with a long arm setup of some sort. Theres plenty of kits out there available to buy, or they are quite easy to fab up.

I suggest the 7in kit. Wish i would have do it. Instead i made mine 7in myself and its just been a pain sometimes. The skyjacker it is everything you need. All drop brackets and everything. 4.88 gears. I have them and my computer hates them. When i do my strocker im going back down to 4.56 so computer will be happy again.
