No Heat - Pull The Dash?
ha. ha.....had same problem. "99 ram 5.9 1500 4x4, previous owner had blend door problem and knocked a hole in case to move blend door. i found a bad motor, like yours, but i can't get enough clearence to get any tools to the motor. i even cut away the sound deadener pad. i was quoted 1000 dollar plus to repair it.
problem is design. the entire ac/ heater setup is in one case under dash. the dash parts have to be removed to get it out. if heater core is bad.....replace the ac core too, unless you have an extra 1000 dollars.
i thought breaking the case was stupid, at first, but realized that simply pushing the blend door with my finger saves a thousand dollars.................well, i'll just do it that way until i'm forced to go into it.
only problem is having to adjust it on in between days,,,,,but, hey...i'm cheap (and old too)

Looks like you can get some access to other parts by taking off the glove box. But you're right, to get to stuff like the core is a whole different story.

The heater treater fix is only $25. And it claims to "reset" the motor, so it won't have to be replaced.
