as i was at the parts store i saw this lucas oil display. it reall makes you think.........hmmm will it make my truck better? HMMMMM

well i believe that if it needed an additive for anything then that thing would have been designed for it. but still i wonder......

i see threeads where people say not to the lucas tranny stuff. WHY?

what about the oil additive or the fuel injector additive?

PERSONALLY, i will not add anything to my oil, i will DEFINITELY not add anything to my trans; however the fuel sytem cleaner can be used every now and then to clean up the injectors etc.

The 46RE tranny is finicky, it only likes ATF+4.

Yup, will help ruin a transmission if you use it.

That's precisely what that display is designed to do.

I think it's logical to assume that if those additives could actually do something other than lighten your wallet, the folks who make the oil and ATF would just go ahead and add it to their own products and market the hell out of it. But they don't. Hmmm...

A better approach is to simply stay on top of your periodic maintenance schedule. If you need a bottle of magic, think Jack Daniel's Old Number 7.

+1 It makes one hell-of-a mess if you ever have to rebuild.

Just save the bottle of magic for after the periodic maintenance and your truck will thank you for it.

I used Lucas once in my transmission. It was before I had my trans re-built the first time. I was trying to make it last as long as it could (In reality I was killing it faster by using Lucas). When I had it re-built the guy who re-built it said the fluid looked like milk and the insides were a foamy mess. Never use it. All the oil treatment is 80wt with some soap. It causes the oil to dilute, yet thicken and loose its anti foam properties causing a motor oil milkshake. I imagine that the trans treatment is probably the same.

USE ATF+4 and Only ATF+4.

I use the lucas Oil Stabilizer and the Upper Cylinder Lube (Fuel additive). I even used the Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my Rear and Front Diffs in a 50/50 mix. THe Lucas has an anti foam agent in it.

I have been using it in my engine for 2 years and under my valvecover looks like I bolted down 2 brand new heads and poured fresh oil on them. They are squeaky clean.

What kills a motor is the "engine Restore" and the "engine flush" is just a gimmick.
