My auto is covered under warranty so I am getting the new auto free, atleast I should. I am not sure when I will get to complete this project, one way to get my dad on board with this was to wait until I am out of school and don't need it everyday. So the new auto is going in for now unless something changes. I will be getting a new auto from them so I can atleast sell that and get some money out of it.

So no nothing will be covered by a warranty once this project is completed.

hemifever just got back to me and he said he could not do anything with PCM. He told me to get one out of a 318 manual and then he could sell me a tuner. He said he could only program it to stay out of limp mode, but I would still be getting the CEL.

So if I could get the flywheel off the back his 360 then it will work as is or would I need to do some different work.

Another terminology question, Flywheel, flexplate, pressure plate, clutch is each a seperate thing, or are they all more or less the same.

I have been look at new/used flywheels trying to get a cost idea if I would end up having to buy one and every where I go I run into this: flywheel/flexplate.

Lol that funny it not cheaper i am only into my manual swap 200$ after parting my parts truck out and i still have parts left over. Plus you get more power to the ground with a manual. I dont care what you do to a 46re they never last forever.

Flywheel and flexplate (drive plate... whatever...) are basically the same thing, one is for manual trans though, other is for automatic. Pressure plate, clutch, throwout bearing are all separate parts. (but, you need them all. )

Ok, I kind of new clutch and throw bearing were a manual thing, the main area I was getting confused was the flywheel/flexplate thing.

dodgeboy: did you do the swap yourself or did you buy it like that. I have a couple questions that you may have seen previosuly concerning the PCM and the driveshaft.

Did the drive shafts interchange, and what was your donor truck. Also, what did you have to do concerning your PCM.

Also, if you did it yourself, how hard was it. Any major problem that I am going to run into, or by having the donor truck do most of the problems concerning parts go away?

I don't expect the manual to last forever, but it will last a helluva lot longer then any automatic (atleast a dodge auto). It isn't just a reliability factor, I like manuals. I like the shifting and the control you have. My dad and grandpa are both running sticks and I love driving either of them. I drive a semi or silage truck all summer and I love that to.

OK, this might be a stupid question, but when looking for the clutch, do I need to get one for a 2500 since its an NV4500, same with the flywheel? Also, I am assuming that just a clutch for a cummins wont work either.

Check this one out and tell me if you think it will work or if its to cheap to be any good http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LuK-C...item3a60ed6ef0

Well, I hate to say this to you guys after all this, but my dad has got so annoyed with me on this project he is thinking off maybe just a new truck.

I found my dream truck with the dream price tag. The only thing wrong with this truck is it is still an auto.

Fix it by replacing every part? Yeah... That works pretty well.

Let us know how that one turns out.

That's what I would do. But then I wouldn't have the time to do this kind of project until I'm well into my 50's and then I won't have the ambition. LOL
