Default Need Advice whether to buy or not

I have been looking for a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 ext cab 4x4 black, For a awhile now. I found one at a buddy of my Dads car lot. It has the 5.9 v8 magnum motor, everything works good. the truck is in really good condition inside and out. he wants 7200 for it. The only thing is it has 171,000 on it. Would it be a good buy? or does anyone know any1 that has what im looking for that would be a good buy for me? Im looking to not spend a **** ton of money on an 01' but that is my favorite body style. And it has too be somewhat mean looking. so please let me know.

I live in Denton, Nebraska

That's a boatload of money for a truck with that many miles on it.... What has been replaced/rebuilt on it? If the trans hasn't been.... deduct the price of a rebuild from that number...... Has the plenum been repaired? If so, did they just do the gasket?

A dealer will look at the Blue Book value, but if you can bring up problem areas with it, they might start dropping the price. I wouldn't count on it though unless its been sitting on the lot for a while.

I'd say to much money, i only payed 3,700 for mine and i have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.9l ext. cab 4x4 with 3 inch body lift, mud tires, big steel bumper and a built in 12,000 pound warren winch, wih 4 kc lights on it rhino lined bed, uws black tool box, leather tinted windows etc. not bragging by any means just saying for that price you could get a much nice dodge. also had 165,000 miles on it when i bought it.

That price seems to me to be high for a vehicle with that many miles behind it.

You might sign up for a free account at http://www.kbb.com/ and poke around there to see what the market is like in your area.

Yeah too much you can pick up one for a hell of a lot cheaper and throw some fresh paint on it, and fix up interior.

A buddy of mine picked up a 98 with 150k for 2800, and that thing had one big dent right before the back bumper, a new bed and it would look like new
