9.25 ram 1500 rear question.
Does anyone that has rebuilt the chrysler 9.25 rear know if the adjustment collars for the carrier bearings need to be locktited to stay in place one set, or just tap them tight to set them. thanks.
I'm currently rebuilding a 9.25... Just upped the ratio..
I'm not sure of your question though..
Are you talking about the bearing retainers held in place by the four large bolts?
Or are you talking about the part that you adjust through the axle(or the holes on either side of the differential?) If the latter, I think its just tighten them tight, not sure of the torque off hand because I don't have the special tool, I just use a screwdriver.
I was kinda curious about this part myself, though...

I hear ya. plenty of people have done it on here. thought we might get some help.
Yeah, nest time, I'm paying someone; a couple of hundred bucks is worth saving the headache.
By the way, I had the adjuster tool made, No way I could get 72ft-lbs sticking a screw driver in a hole...

Did you have a socket welded to the other end to put the torque wrench on it? I was reading somewhere on here the ring gear bolt torque is like 110 ft lbs. I just torqued mine last night and the spec. was only 75 ft lbs. did you run into anything like that?
Here is a link that I posted a little while back.. I since have rebuilt three rearends... If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will answer the best i can...
