Default Torque converter not locking?

I think my torque converter isn't locking. With OD off it shifts 1st, 2nd 3rd then nothing even at 60mph. With OD on it shifts 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th(OD) then nothing even at 65mph. What could be causing this? A bad torque converter or maybe just the solinoid?

When I bought the truck (last week) it had a check engine light so I took it to the mechanic and he said it was a TCC(torque converter clutch) code. We didn't do anything because neither of us know the truck. I have put 300 miles on it since then and the check engine light has not come back on.

I really hope the transmission isn't bad. I don't have $2000+ to put in this truck!

The pan gasket is leaking and I plan on replacing it this weekend. Could that be causing the problem? I checked the fluid level yesterday and it was fine.

So with the OD on, the RPM's don't drop when it's going into 4th?

Yes it drops when shifting into 4th but isn't it supposed to drop again when the converter locks? When driving at 55-60 the rpm's are at 2000-2200 isn't that higher than it should be?

Ok but shouldn't the rpm's drop when the converter locks? When I have OD off it goes 1,2,3 then nothing no rpm drops after that

What CEL did the mechanic pull when he ran it for codes? Did you replace the TCC solenoid? That could be your culprit. It controls the shifting of your OD unit.

No we didn't replace anything and the code had not come back up. He didn't want to replace it because neither of us know anything about the truck because its new. It threw a TCC code and thats it
