So this maybe a stupid question, but for you to change those sensors and adjust the bands, do you have to pill the tranny?

No.

And if you dont have a really good inch pound torque wrench that you know is accurate, do not touch the bands.

Why did you replace the speed sensor in the first place, was it not working? If the the previous one was working (and you replaced for some crazy unknown reason) I would stick that one back in there and take it for a test drive.

Dumb question, but did you remember to plug the electrical connector back into the sensor?

You could have burned up the clutches from the lack of fluid. Bad day sir.

I replaced the sensor today. Not sure if it was bad or not. Was reading that it would affect shift points and gas mileage if so. I only went around the block with low fluid. Just filled it. I can't put the old sensor back because I cut the wires right at the plug. Yes it's plugged in. WTF....This is what I get for trying to save a couple bucks.

But when I put the new sensor in. It wouldn't go at first. Then I turned the metal shaft and wiggled it in. Do you think that could have done anything?

There should be a driven gear that plugs into the the sensor. If the teeth don't mesh with the drive gear (on the transmission shaft), it won't go in. If you broke the gear..... well, you need a new one. Pull it out, have a look.

Why would you have to cut the wires on the old sensor? Does it have a pigtail? Or, is there a harness plug that goes right into the sensor?

Dont drop the pan, that will cause the shift problem.. have the transmission flushed every 30,000 miles, and when who ever is flushing it have them or you put trans seafoam in it. Might cost ya but extends tranny life by a lot and it will appreciate it. Makes it run muuuuch better also.
