What did I do???
Dont drop the pan, that will cause the shift problem.. have the transmission flushed every 30,000 miles, and when who ever is flushing it have them or you put trans seafoam in it. Might cost ya but extends tranny life by a lot and it will appreciate it. Makes it run muuuuch better also.

I would suggest looking closer at the speed sensor. When these are not working or are damaged, your speedo will not work and your tranny will not shift correctly. You have both problems, and you have monkeyed with the sensor... that would be where I would start.
Your ABS light on the dash may also come on as well, but I think that is typically when the axle sensor isn't working.

and flushing only good to ext. if you done it since its new, if your like most people they check it and forget it.
if you flush after 100,000 miles the new fluid will ruin the tc and every thing. the crap in the old fluid what kept it together.
You must not know much about transmissions either.
There is not that much bad about our transmissions. As a member demonstrated, they can last once maintained. He had 300,000 miles on his transmission with regular fluid and filter changes.
Flushing it wont hurt anything, if you use the right method. New fluid wont hurt a old transmission

ok so if someone could recap for me what are the BEST preventative maintenance i should do? i got my dodge last summer so far this thing has been the worst truck i have ever owned i have dumped more money into this thing then i ever thought i would! and my transmission just went out on me so its in the shop as we speak getting rebuilt and its costing me anywhere from 8-1800 bucks i DO NOT want to have to worry about this problem again so yeah if you guys can tell me what i can do to prevent any kind of damage or anything to this transmission that would be great?
Depending on the mileage, the tranny could have been chipping and eating itself up. If you flush new fluids through it, it might wash away some chunks here and there that actually helped it run. A friend of mine found that out the hard way.
