You've certainly got one that's integral to the radiator. You might also have an auxiliary cooler -- take a look at the ATF lines that enter the radiator. If both lead directly back to the transmission you don't have an aux cooler. If instead one of them snakes around to the front of the radiator, and another returns from the front of the radiator to the transmission, you've got an auxiliary cooler already. They were factory installed along with towing packages and off-road editions.
its actually at the shop so i cant look at it but its a 95 ram 1500 ext cab 5.2L it has the overdrive push button not sure if that helps or not? but i coulda swore i seen then tranny cooler outside of the radiator but like i said im not too sure

Well thanks for not bein a dick to me. I appreciate that, and he did a tranny swap to a NV3500, but I did a tranny flush on mine with BGs and its fine, im not having any leaks or anything, shifts better and is fine. The only thing that my tranny hates me for is my 35" tires. So not to sure why theres gotta be name calling but im not a tranny expert but I know some stuff, trial and error. Sorry im not as good as the Dodge transmission god.

I am just thinking you got a truck that got used hard and poorly maintained. I hope things go better for you in the future.

MonteC's not been seen around these parts for quite a while now. Maybe it's your turn to be the stand-in god?

Just a little side note,

I researched this when walmart stopped carrying mopar atf in my area.

Chrysler owns the patent on ATF+4, so anyone marketing it must pass the standard set by them to qualify. Any ATF+4 you buy should be the exact same thing, and most store brand s are bottled by another company anyway.

let me ask you guys something so im sitting here thinking to myself that the REBUILD of my transmission is gonna cost around 1800 i was looking at ebay and they have refurbished transmissions for 795 would it have just been easier, cheaper, and better just to get a refurbished tranny? or am i better off getting it rebuilt at the shop? also i was checking autozone and they had new transmissions for around 12-1600 would that have been a wiser choice? i can swap the transmissions out myself i just dont know how to rebuild them

Do the ebay, or autozone trannies come with a torque converter? (I wouldn't trust an autozone transmission any further than I could throw it....)

One advantage of having it done locally is, if there is a problem, you can show up at the shop IN PERSON, and have your issues addressed. Including removal/reinstallation.... there is a lot to be said for that on something as intricate as a trans......
