Default oem brake controller setup

anyone have the oem schematic wiring diagram , i have the haynes manual but it sucks it doesnt show anything for the oem brake harness

i have no power goin to the harness , it says 15 amps max but didnt see a dedicated fuse for the controller , i did find a blown 40 amp fuse under the hood labeled trailer but wouldnt think it would run off that since it was labeled on the harness max amp 15
still need to replace that 40 amp and try and fix all this crap wiring that uhaul did for a previous owner

Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section here. That should have the diagrams you need.

looking at the schematic it doesnt show a 15 or 20 amp fuse between the brake controller and the 40amp fuse under the hood which is odd considering it said max amp was 15 lol , unless im missing something(little under the weather right now)

helped out with the wire color code though

The 40 amp fuze under the hood in the pdb is the power supply for the elec brakes. The 15-20 amp fuze in the side panel is for the brake controler to work, power supply.

the power wire from the oem harness goes right out thru the firewall to the PDB , and there is no dedicated fuse in the cab for just the controller or at the PDB

What year is your truck? 96 and under don't have the trailer wireing package, so all trailer wireing must be added to the truck. If u haul made a big mess then rip it out and start from scratch, It's not hard to do just time consuming. Have a look at one of the trailer brake suppliers and you should find a install diag to follow.

ive got a 98 which appears to have oem tow package cause the wiring looks factory
it looks like uhaul wired in a brake controller for the previous owner they used the oem harness except for the power wire , they ran a seperate wire which went to a inline fuse , to a CB , and then to the battery

ill probably get the 40 amp fuse later today and see if that send power to the harness for the controller , which according the schematic it should

They probley blew the 40 amp fuze and then could not find that fuze, so they wired in there own power supply, Dumb F's.

thats what i was thinking cause that 40amp fuse is blown , which is why i wanted to make sure there wasnt another power supply for the controller
