It must depend on the area, around here there is no way you can get a cummins for about the same price as the v10, unless the cummins is in terrible shape

Same in this area. I looked for almost 2 years locally for a clean V10 or cummins loaded with options and there's a $3 to $5k difference between them.

What parts are hard to find for the V10?
Same here, IF you can find a diesel for sale, it is going to be almost double the price as the same truck with a gas engine. No matter how many cylinders it has.
Stock parts are available for the V-10, there is very little, if any... aftermarket support though. Even finding headers can be an exercise. Beyond that, there just ain't much of anything.
Dont waist your time with a v10. They get horrible milage and dont last nearly as long as a cummins. You can find a 4x4 cummins auto or 5speed for about the same price and have all the aftermarket support you will ever want. Plus at 600+ hp on the dyno I get 20-22 city and thats with driving like i stole it most of the time.

I agree. But Cummins in my area are not cheap. Plus, the price of diesel is ridiculous. Even at 10 mpg i'd probably spend less on fuel then at 20 mpg in a diesel.
