Default Steering Stabalizer/Dampner Removal

I know this sounds like it should be pretty easy but I have been trying to get my Steering Stabalizer off for the past two nights with no luck...

I have a 2001 Off-Road and the problem is where the Stabalizer bolts to the Drag Link, The nut comes off easy enough but it looks like its a taper that gets tightened into the drag link and I can't break it free. I tried to beat it out although you can't really get a great angle (I'm doing it on my back of course) tried using a pickle-fork, torch, and even tried to get a gear puller on there but the arms just slip off because the bar is round so there is nothing for it to grab too. Also hosed the whole thing down with PB blaster a few times even though its not really rusty or anything.

If anyones got a trick let me know, otherwise I'll just try to beat it harder tonight! Thanks for the help.

A pitman arm puller should work.

+1 on the pit man arm puller. Harbor Freight has them pretty cheap.

Two hammers. One on top, and then SMACK it from the bottom. Don't try and simply whack on the end of the stud to drive it out. Doesn't work.

So slide the arms on the puller around the drag link and then push on the threaded end of the stud? Anyone actually do this on the stabalizer before? Just wondering if the pitman arm puller fits on there right.

This one's interesting, I guess I'm going to give it a whirl tomorrow but I'm not sure how it's supposed to work...seems like I'd be driving it in further.

"pneumatic hammer if you have one"

And lastly, unfortunatly I do not have a pneumatic hammer haha but thanks for the thought!

Two hammers will do it. Take it off and leave it off. It's nothing more then a cosmetic accessory.
