I would be real tempted to drop the pan again, and visually inspect the rear band, and associated parts...... the adjuster not doing anything kinda points to a problem there.....

ya like the adjusting screw would go in but just seemed to keep going never gettin tight. i didnt know how far to keep going with it so i just put back to where it was and put all back together. like how far should it screw in. think i got 4 or 5 turns on the adjusting screw then stopped.

It should tighten up before the head of the adjusting screw disappears below the surface of the lock nut..... If it doesn't, something is wrong internally. Either the anchor came out, or the band just physically broke. Only way to know for sure is to drop the pan, and have a look......

There are some resources available for what things 'should' look like....... Check the FSM, and I think there are also trans manuals linked in various places.

Factory Service Manual. You can download the 01 version in the faq section of these forums.

I don't have the info on how far to back it off again right handy, but, I know it was posted in a couple of the more recent trans threads. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with.

Just so you see it.... here is the procedure from another post. Reading that whole thread wouldn't be a bad plan.

The front band is 2 7/8 back off, the rear band(the one in pan) is 2 turns back off.
