Just curious if anyone has ever attempted a swap like this. I know the ls1 has been done but what about a ford motor. I'm curious because my truck now has about 314k miles on it and is tired. The engine uses more oil than gas. I'd love to build up a 360 or maybe even something bigger but I recently sold my mustang but I have a nice complete roller 302 with aluminum heads and a blow through turbo kit sitting in my garage. My truck is a 5spd 2wd single cab by the way. I kind of like the concept of a turbocharged 5.0 with a manual tranny but in my trusty ole Ram.

 

Check with Advanced Adapters and see if they have something you can use with the stock trans. (if the stocker is an NV3500 though, replace it with something meaner....) Motor mounts, and electronics are going to be real sticking points though......

 

Why would you want to perform a downgrade like this?

This kind of behavior leads to other unnatural acts, like having sex with farm animals.

Sell the 302 Ford crap. I bet the money you can get for that, you could build a pretty sweet 360.

 

Even a built naturally aspirated 408 stroker would probably give that compressed 302 a run for it's money. Not to mention, I am sure it would be more reliable in the long run.

 

Try running a Ford V8 on very little oil -- meaning a quart or so. I bet it barely lasts, whereas the Dodge will continue onward, unfazed.

I agree with purpl. Its not that its Ford its 302 they are junk! It is pretty funny tho how ppl bash on fords and chevys. Ford fix or repair daily, Chevy sh*t, yet there is nothing for Dodge lol

 

There are some for MOPAR though.

u figure u got 300xxx miles or of your stock motor...and I know my bro had a fox body 302 and he got 64xxx out of the first motor then barley 20xxx out of it after he stroked it to 347.... My opinion I would sell the ford and build a 408....my bolt on auto 318 runs my buddys 94 gt pretty close from a zero till about 55....i know if I had a 408 I would walk him.
