That might be the Purge solenoid. Check it out! My purge solenoid wasnt even hooked up properly until I discovered that when I was working on the engine.

hey Patt, Here are the photos again. The location is right behind the distributor. The white line coming out the same location is a vacuum line. Anyways someone has got to be in the middle of a tear down that can help out. The truck a a 2001 1500 quad cab 5.9L.

Thanks.
same issue here 2 weeks ago, the white is a vacuum line, the green is a vent with protector to keep anything from entering it. it is just how it is supposed to be.

Can other things be affected by this oil pooling in there, or even burning it?

The first post of this thread will inform you of the many happenings involving this issue. The most common effected parts are a failed cat, o2 sensors, cylinder #8 misfire leading to that # plug fouling and many will argue that it can lead a cracked head..etc.

Sounds like either you missed a ground (double check them all DO NOT OIL ANY, make sure they are clean and tight), the main wiring went bad due to being moved around a lot, or (as happened to here) a bad battery cable... Which if the main harness goes bad be prepared to have a bad PCM as it can fry it...

i need help! i installed the hughes plenum kit about a month ago and when i pulled my tb off the other day to clean it i noticed oil pooling in the manifold....AGAIN! i know i did everything the manual said. bolts were installed in correct pattern at correct torque. only thing i didnt do was use blue loctite on the bolts and that was because it already had red loctite on them.

any suggestions before i yank the manifold off and use it for target practice?
