Yes, there is a vac test. But it's a waste of time(As stated many times in this thread) and will only show if the leak is severe. I know it's long, but if you read the thread, you wouldn't have to ask this question and make the thread even longer.

checked my plenum today just by looking down through the TB with a flashlight, I did not see any oil pooling and I could see clean steel.

you have to remove the TB and it's better to use an inspection mirror when checking so that you can see in the corners of the keg.

The original bolts didn't need thread locker, since they were too long and bottoming out in the hole.

Yes, those were the bolts he was speaking of.

That's actually part of the reason for the blown plenums, the plenum bolts were too long.

I cant remember how long they were.. All I know is I used the ones that came with my pan... they were really short stubby ones.. I don't remember the original bolts being long either.. ? They couldn't have been more then half an inch long... How is that too long ? They are short like valve cover bolts. and those rattle lose that's what im worried about.. man I wish I thought about thread locker lol

The bolts are short, but there is a little "tit" on the end of them that makes the bolt bottom out in the hole.

I have a 96 1500 4x4, 5.2l. There is a missfire about 50 mph. I changed out the plemeun gasket, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, thermostat, flushed coolant, and oil change. I runs good until it warms up then it starts to misfire again. The misfire is not as bad as before but still there. I am thinking it is prob the cat or pre cat o2 sensor. Does anybody have any thoughts on where I should go next. I really don't want to replace the cat if I don't have to. Would any other sensor cause this. How can I test or verify what is wrong. Thanks.

If you are over 100K miles, replace the pre-cat O2 sensor, and see if that doesn't help.
