Default What does a bad clockspring sound like?

I am pretty sure I have a bad clock spring, but NOT sure, it makes a binding up noise right on the steering wheel when I turn, are after market clock spring good if that is my problem?

You sure you don't have a bushing binding in your steering column/shaft?

How would I check for that, the bushing you guys are referring to is the ROCK SOLID bushing that everyone replaces with? The noise come right be the steering wheel, under the column next to the steering wheel

No the Rock Solid is the steering box reinforcement IIRC.
There are other bushings in the steering column and shaft there wear out though.

BTW...to be honest...I dunno.

Is it just the wheel itself rubbing on the plastic housing covers? Might wanna pull 'em off, and see if there is anything obvious. There IS a bearing under there somewhere..... (a couple of them as I recall....)
