Connector will be on the outside.

There is a factory service manual available for download in the faq section, the procedure for band adjustment will be detailed in there. (with PICS!! )

Have you cleaned your throttle body, especially, the IAC passages?

Then check the large tube that feeds into the front of the throttle body for cracks.

Transmissions are the weak link of this particular generation of truck. Your symptoms sound like a trans, on it's way out. You can try a band adjustment to see if the band is just so loose it won't grab the drum, or replacing the governor solenoid and sensor, but it's likely you could just be throwing good money away. I'd take it to a trustworthy shop and get a diagnosis.

HeyYou ninjaed me on the rest. He's an epic post *****, but he knows his ****.

Sorry, thought you were going the horn-dog route with the pic requests.

That thing to the right of my hand is the evap purge solenoid (what aim is talking about). Put your finger on it while the truck is running, if it's working then it will be clicking and you'll feel it.
