You are stuck in 4 wheel.

In 2H the front driveshaft is inactive.

???? No... Which shaft? The one from the front diff or the one at teh wheels? The shafts at the wheels always spin.. If you want to know if your stuck in 4wd turn to the rifght or left real hard going slow and if it pops, clunkc or hops its in 4wd if it doesnt your in 2wd

Another way to test is go onto a gravel road and punch it to the pavement, if you get significant rear wheel spin your in 2h, if you get little or no wheel spin your in 4h.

If the shaft that connects your front diff to the Transfer case is spinning you ARE in 4x4. If it is not spinning you are not...thats pretty hard to check though when your moving.

CAD isn't disengaging. You either have something stuck, or, a vacuum problem. Pull the vacuum lines off the actuator on the front axle, with the engine running, see which side you are getting vacuum from. Switch the t-case into 4wd, and see if you now get vacuum out the OTHER line. If not, replace the vacuum switch on the t-case.

Do the test I outlined. If the switch is bad, its easy to fix. You can do this in your driveway.
