Ok, Got the O/D switch hooked up on the shifter to the button on the dash, Weird thing is the "Shift" light comes on now along with the O/D Off light. Still trying to figure out the best way to wire the cruise, Heyyou, Yours should really be a plug and play, Since it already uses resistors in the OEM switch on your stock wheel.

Shelby,

I wish you'd taken pictures of this process you're enduring. I have a 1997 Laramie SLT but HATE the dual horn buttons as they stick. I'd like to upgrade to a later model steering wheel that has the horn button integrated across the SRS cover. I've asked on here several times if anyone knows if the steering wheel is compatible with the earlier setups or if the entire column has to be swapped. I've never had an answer.

If you could provide a complete write-up of the swap when you're done it would be a great help to anyone down the road who wants to follow your example.

Hi,

Well mine was also one of the dual horn buttons, I hated the way it looked, And the fact it had no ram on a ram? :O. I am pretty sure that yours would be compatable as your cruise buttons use a resistor to send signals to the PCM instead of the each button sends a different signal that mine has. I will try to do a write up later if you want. I still have yet to do the cruise on mine as i will have to redo the switches to single switches

Did you swap the entire column or just the steering wheel?

The whole column, And its a interesting job trust me, You gotta disconnect the transmission linkage if you have a auto. The other wires (plugs) matched perfectly other then the cruise ones but thats because of the major year diff. Look at the thread I just made there is a pic there

Awesome. I'm contemplating completely tearing my truck down to nothing, this winter, and going through it. The dash needs to be replaced, the interior carpet is trashed, and my seats need recovered. Also, I'd like the incorporate the "Ram Steering Fix" that's advertised around here, somewhere. It's a repair part to correct a weak point in the steering assy. If I'm doing all that, then I would go ahead and swap out the steering wheel as well.
