Zman17 is correct on fuel pump and regulator issue. I would replace the reg witha new one. If you still aren't sure, go ahead and do pump. But I wouold buy new and not use a wrecking yard part for this. Pulling the tank is hard enough, no sense putting a used part in there.....imho.

six of one, half-dozen of the other........ I think lifting the bed is the less complicated procedure, especially if you have a friend to help.

MY poor baby girl =[ I think she threw a rod. aint soundin good at all havent been wantin to start and have been 2 steppin it to start it. dont think its a cracked head but could be wrong. Radiator fluid is good, and oil i put 2 quarts in the last week. idk whats wrong. Turned her on for a second and then all the sudden temp gauge jumped up to red so turned her off and now shes heading to the shop and hopefully the dealers goin to pay for it or fix it. I am depressed because i just spend 250$ on tools and things to get and fix my rust and pant my undercarage... I am deeply sad

The noise came from the front of the engine it was like right behind the fan area of close to that... Any possiblity it could be the timing chain that fell off or stretched to much? it was well dam near had to have pedal to the floor to get anything going... I need some help here

Is it a knock? Or a grinding sound? Is there a decided miss when the engine is running?

Okay what my dad figured out... Okay heres the from the start of the problem... had to go to town (hardware hank) to get some plumbin supplies... (had to fix bathroom washer facuet) and well i went 85mph engine got a lil over half way on heat i was there and parked it. Got supplies came back out. Engine did not want to start. Was a very very weak turing over... Had it started in the matter of about 85 yards the engine temp gauge went to almost redlined when i put her in park by napa... Engine was making a wabbling like something was loose in the engine... So i looked at the engine while a friend started it and the noise was coming from the very front of the engine by the belts so i called up the dealer then he asked me if timing chain was off or off nby one...(if timing chain off wouldnt it stop whole engine?) and then well i told him to come pick it up and see whats wrong with it. Also why is it drinking a quart of oil every week? but lil off story... but anyways next day (today) started it up and still slight not as loud as it was yesterday but its still there. So my dad and i looked while it was running... We both thought that it was possibly the waterpump that went bad maybe the bearing or something... COULD this be my issue? it is at east side autos and well i could call em and tell em if that but they closed right now. Okay so here is the 2 questions... Could water pump be bad? and why is my truck drinkin 1 quart of oil every week? any ideas would greatly help out

real possibility the w/p is toast.

your oil consumption is more than likely the plenum. if it hasn't been fixed yet, it WILL need it.

If you are totally and completely prepared, have everything you need, and don't break anything while doing the job, and have power tools to help you clean up stuff before reassembly, you could conceivably do it in three hours.

Don't hold your breath on that.

If you are doing it yourself, and this whole thing is kinda new to you, (never been into an engine before) give yourself the whole weekend to get the job done. If you get it done faster, all well and good.
