Smile What do you think?

Just did this yesterday, debating on blacking out chrome as well been trying to get opinions on which will look better. Also I'd hate to make two threads, what would cause my transmission to have delayed shifts and feel like its being held back when cold but drive fine and spin the tires while warm. I'm removing check valve tomorrow on my day off. A few notes I believe I have the 46RE, transmission fluid is almost clear doesn't smell burnt and no abnormal noises just delayed shifting when cold. I'm not used to auto's so if this is normal great but god I wish it was five speed.

Looks good!

When was the last time the fluid/filter in the trans was changed? If you don't know the answer to that question, it's been too long. While you have the pan down, inspect the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid. They like to get gummed up, and not work as they should. If your truck is approaching/past 100K miles, won't hurt to do a band adjustment either.

They like to get clogged up with the assorted crap that naturally accumulates in the pan. Clean 'em out good, or, just replace them while you are in there if they are really bad.

So just clean them with like brake cleaner? Or what lol? I'm pretty good with engine and body work just not tranny's yet lol. And do I need a torque wrench for any of this? Governor, filter, pan bolts.

Brake or carb cleaner should work pretty well. If you adjust the bands, you will need a torque wrench that is accurate at 72 inch pounds. That's it.

You'll want a set of torx sockets too. At the very least, the filter uses torx heads.

In my opinion chrome is awesome and there a very few trucks "blacked out" that actually look good, some do but the majority don't to me.

See quote it sig.

Also I was able to use allen keys to remove filter from trans, they are not very tight and torx tips can be expensive to get a good kit that is not gunna brake just by looking at them wrong.
